Beginning on August 24, 2012, Jackson State University will be required to be in compliance with new Public Health Services (PHS) requirements. The University has revised its policy for faculty reporting research funding in concurrence with revised National Institutes of Health conflict of interest regulations.

The role of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to review all the proposed research involving human subjects and to ensure that subjects are treated ethically and that their rights and welfare are adequately protected.
